The first couple of days after the south coast track Fabienne and I stayed at her aunts place, which was close to New Norfolk.
After having rested the first day we went to MONA, Museum Of New Art, which is a privately owned museum with quite a controversial art taste. It also was advised to not take kids to all the places as some things were quite shocking (for instance a big photograph of a man having sex with a dog, which was not photoshopped). Though there were also some nice pieces of art of which one was the snake. The man that made that could never sell it as no museum wanted to buy it because of its size, the owner of MONA however made the museum to fit that piece in.
Though it was quite nice at Fabienne's aunts place it was time for me to leave, so I decided to go to Port Arthur. Port Arthur used to be a prison camp where outlaws worked hard to make boats and other stuff and is one of the most haunted places in the world. Though you won't notice it by day, but by night it is a scary place. Fabienne was there with me and we decided to go on a ghost tour, which is a tour in the dark with only 3 candle lit torches on our side and a crazy storyteller. The thing that is most scary is that all those stories happened, as Port Arthur has a strict policy to only tell stories if something similar has happened three times or more. As I was one of the torch carriers I was chosen to be the first one to enter all the haunted buildings on my own first before anyone else came. The reason was "Timo is very brave... and expendable" as the guide so elegantly put it.
The next day Fabienne and I parted our ways and I went to Strahan, a small town on the west coast of Tasmania where there was a 'lot' of tourism. Quite frankly it was very boring and no one was there and to make matters worse, because of Eastern the bus connections were terrible and I had to go back to Hobart, where I already spent quite some time. Just to do something I went to Launceston again and made it back before my plane to Sydney departed.
Back in Sydney, the town I found so dreadful, I stayed at Teresa's place, actually I got her entire room while she stayed at her boyfriend's. We did meet for dinner and lunch but it was a shame she had to learn so much for upcoming tests. After the one night I already had to leave as my flight home would depart today. But first I would have to spent 16 hours in Taipei (Taiwan). Luckily I would meet up with Gianna, which I met in Port Douglas a couple of months ago.
It was quite nice to have someone guide me around Taipei and we had much fun, we even had a photo shoot for uniqlo!
However after having seen Taipei 101 (second highest building in the world) and seen some statues etc. it was time to head home, this time for real.
When I got home my family and Ruud were waiting for me with a welcome home banner and it immediately felt like normal again, though when I got home there was a party going on. It was my sisters birthday after all, but it was more of a shared thing.
This is the last piece that I will be writing for my Down Under trip and I want to thank all my readers and people that I met on the road for having my back and giving me loads of fun.
Thanks
